Frequently Asked Questions

Please reach us at WomenWhoCareLincolnCountyMaine@gmail.com if you have a question we didn't answer here. We look forward to connecting!

There are over seven hundred 100+ Women Who Care groups nationwide. The Lincoln County, Maine chapter began in October 2025 and will hold its first meeting at Wanderwood on October 7, 2025.

Meetings rotate quarterly throughout Lincoln County. Meeting dates, times and locations are listed toward the bottom of the home page.

You'll be among like-minded humans during a 45-minute registration and social period. Our formal meeting follows and lasts one hour.

Always! We love meeting new friends! If your companion hasn't committed to the group, she will be unable to vote. We encourage people to come to a meeting to see how it works before making the decision to commit.

Nope. We know you're busy. And missing a meeting should be a guilt-free experience. You can be a member without ever attending a meeting. Your quarterly donation still supports local nonprofits--though you'll need to be okay donating to the charity decided at the meeting. If you can make the time, great! Meetings are fairly spectacular, unique experience.

We're efficient:

5:15-6:00 PM - Registration, networking and socializing.  Drinks will be available for purchase. Arrive at least ten minutes before the meeting start for your eco-friendly name tag and ballot.

6:00-7:00PM meeting.

Three nominations  are pulled from the bowl.

The three nominating members speak  for five minutes and answer a few questions.

Members vote by ballot. One organization is awarded our Impact Donation.

The remaining two organizations receive a donation as well.

At our next gathering, a representative from the chosen organization will be invited to give an update on the use of funds.

There are Big Checks and Big Smiles!

To be considered at a meeting, the organization must benefit Lincoln County, Maine communities. The organization must be a nonprofit entity  recognized as a 501c3 for at least two years. We don't have the capacity to support national or  international nonprofits, programs or organizations unless they have a location in Lincoln County and agree to keep  100% of the donations local.

Nope. This is a stress-free group. You can sit back and learn about inspiring organizations providing local services and supports. Your quarterly contribution  is the only requirement of membership.

Yes! First, we want to THANK YOU for the work you do!

Second, any member in good standing (including staff, volunteers and board members of a non-profit) can nominate any eligible organization. Our primary goal is to support non-profits. We welcome nominations from members who see the local need first hand.

Non-profits that receive an Impact Donation can be nominated again after three years.

Non-profits that have been presented but not selected may be nominated again at any time.

If a non-profit has been nominated and presented and not selected twice they must wait one year before being nominated again.

Does anyone love public speaking? We're not convinced. Still, we're a forgiving crowd and will be kind. If you nominate a non-profit, you need to be able to tell members why. In the spirit of solidarity, we offer our “presenting tips” and look forward to hearing your voice!

A 501-c-3 is a nonprofit organization that is exempt from federal income tax and eligible to receive tax-deductible contributions.

Yes, your contribution is tax deductible if made payable to a 501(c)(3) organization. Checks are written directly to the local organization, NOT  to 100+ Women Who Care. We'll say that again, because it's an important one: You'll make your checks PAYABLE DIRECTLY TO THE CHOSEN NON-PROFIT. Contact your tax advisor or the IRS for further information.

The goal of the 100+ Women Who Care organization is to bundle our donations and make a large donation on behalf of the whole group. We want to support this endeavor and give $10,000+ dollars to make a large impact in our community. Your member donation is part of the larger donation.

And there's more!

With us, you can often double your impact!

Through matching grants, our donation can be doubled. Funders only match the amount collected by our collective and delivered to the non-profit.

Also? We want to keep things tidy. Our team tracks your donations so you get credit for the funds and remain eligible for submitting, attending, and voting.

Grapevine is a non-profit organization that collects and forwards donations to nonprofits.  There is a small fee for processing  the credit card.

  • Go to our Grapevine page HERE If you are not already a Grapevine member, click “Join this group.”
  • Find the current donation cycle (top right of page). Under “How Much” select the amount you would like to donate.
  • Under  “How Often?” you will have two options. If you select quarterly, it will create a subscription which will automatically charge your card your selected donation fee after every meeting and you will never have to remember to bring a check or go online to donate. If you choose the  “One Time” option you will be donating just for the current meeting cycle and can go back to Grapevine after each meeting to make  your donation.

You're all good! We hope you're doing something to give back to YOU. Maybe pampering yourself? Restoring and resetting. We will miss you but understand that self-care needs to come before caring for others.

To remain a member in good standing, you'll still need to make your donation to the selected non-profit. The day after the meeting, you can check our website or Facebook page and see  which organization was selected. You can then donate by credit card  through our Grapevine account send your check for $50 MADE OUT TO THE SELECTED NONPROFIT to NAME OF RECIPIENT AND ADDRESS. Checks need to be received within two weeks.

Nope. Never. Rest assured 100% of funds raised go directly to the selected non-profit and runners up. Our group is funded by the group founders and local sponsors who rock.

We honor it. We're in this to care for each other, not sell or share your personal bits. Also, the non-profits receiving your checks have agreed not to sell your information and not to use your information to request money from you in the future.

Aw, you're awesome! How about spreading the word? Tell your friends, your mom, your mom's friends. Our goal is to fund local non-profits. More members = more $.

Does your employer have a matching donation program?

Would they like to sponsor us?

Three sponsors donate each quarter to the two non-profits that are not selected at our meeting. This donation totals $800 and we would love to see this amount increase. Checks would be made out directly to the non-profits. For more information about sponsorship please email us!

We are huge fans of fun! Any donations of gift cards, items from local businesses, things we could use for door prizes and raffles would be a fantastic way to deepen your impact.

Our history is pure awesomeness. The first 100+ Women Who Care organization was founded by Karen Dunigan in her community of Jackson, Michigan in 2006. Since then, the organization has grown to an alliance of nearly 700 chapters nationwide. From one seed, a garden.
